Week of firsts

Well this has been a week of firsts for Lucas. He went to his first childrens party on Saturday - which he slept through. He went to his first league game at the stadium - pity we lost! And he slept through the night last night. We put him down at 8.30pm he woke at 9.45pm had a quick feed and was down again by 10pm and woke up at 6.45am this morning. For the last week he has been going down at about 8.30-9.30pm and waking once a night at about 4am and then 7ish.
Lucas is growing so fast. He is in 3-6mth clothing and he isn't even 2mths old yet. All his hormone spots have gone but now he has really bad cradle cap. His cabbage ear is looking much better but we still have to put the metal splint on it to train it to sit properly. He will probably have to keep the splint on until he is 3mths old. Meanwhile we have to go out to the Hutt Hospital every fortnight to get it checked. Lucas finds his thumb every so often and makes such a racket sucking it.

Lucas and his cousins

Above is Lucas with his cousins. There are Courtney's twins Porter and Lennox in the middle, they are 10 days younger then Lucas and Riley Dionne's baby on the right. Riley is 9 weeks older then Lucas. It is impossible to get a photo of the four of them together happy and awake.

Seven weeks

Lucas is seven weeks tomorrow. He is growing fast. He seems to be going down at about 10-11pm and waking once in the night which has been great. He has just about out grown his basinette - his head is touching one end and feet is about a centimetre from the other end - so will have to move him into his own room in the next couple of days.

Lucas and Oliver. Lucas has almost caught up in length to Oli but not quite as chubby and there is 11 wks between them.

Lucas, Oliver and Lennox. Lennox is Lucas' cousin (one of twins - the other one is asleep). There is only 10 days between Lucas and the twins. I still haven't managed to get a photo of Lucas and his three cousins (born within months of each other) together - every time you get some of them in a good mood the others are asleep or grumpy.

Five weeks

Lucas is five weeks tomorrow. He is over his earache now and in a much better mood. He was weighed on Friday and is 5.5kgs. He has now got hormone spots all over his face.

Lucas loves getting out of the house. He seems to get quite grumpy when we are stuck at home but sleeps really well when we go out.
Lucas found his thumb again yesterday. He hasn't sucked his thumb since he was a week old.

Lucas started smiling late last week. His first definate smile was at his uncle Scott (I'm sure he smiled at me the day before but it was only one little smile, whereas Scott got several big ones)

Three Weeks

Lucas has got a horrible cough, runny nose and an earache and has ended up on antibiotics. He has been a bit more clingy then usual but other then that has been good.

We went to the Plastics unit at the Hutt hospital yesterday about his cabbage ear and they have ended up taping a piece of metal to his ear so that it will pop up. We have to go back next week to see how it is going. They said he could be wearing it until he is three months old.

His cabbage ear. The other ear isn't as bad but they have taped it up anyway.

Got my grumpy face on

Lucas & Oli just chilling out. Hard to believe there is only 10 weeks between them.

Lucas has been a very easy baby so far. He gets a bit scratchy in the evening. He loves having his bath, but doesn't like going down at night. Normally is between 11pm and 1am when we finally get him down, but he wakes at 3am & 6am, which we can cope with. He is getting a lot more alert now, he is still feeding every 3-4 hrs.
