Five Months

Lucas is 5 months old today. He has taken to sleeping in our bed. At night he goes down in our bed then we transfer him to the cot. He is sleeping through the night which is great. Often when we do manage to get him asleep in his cot we will find him at the top of the cot sideways on his side.

Since 4 1/2 months Lucas has been trying solids, but for the last week has wanted 1/2 jar of food in the evening. We gave him a piece of watermelon to suck on yesterday which he loved. He threw a tanty when it fell on the ground so had to get him a new one.

He is now 70cm tall & approx 8kgs.

He had a bad bout of eczema on Thurs/Fri last week so took him to the doctor & got some Hydracortizone & some moisteriser stuff & it has settled down.

19 Weeks

In his jumper & beanie his nana knitted him. He hadn't slept all morning in this photo & he was so tired he could hardly keep his eye's open - but he wouldn't give in.

Lucas is talking heaps now. I try & read him a story & he will talk over me (I think he's going to take after his uncle mitch). He has started laughing & likes playing boo. We weighed him yesterday & he is 8.1 kg now. He has decided that he will only sleep in our bed, so he sleeps in there during the day & at night we put him to sleep in our bed then move him into his cot. He is sleeping through the night most nights which is great. He's found his thumb again which is great. We're pretty sure he's teething. He is always chewing things & gets red cheeks & we think we can see some little teeth coming, but he hasn't been that grumpy with it.

We've given him a little bit of solids. We gave him a piece of apple to suck on last wednesday & he loved that. I've also given him a little bit of mashed banana, he's only had 4 spoonfuls at the most.

Update

Lucas is doing really well. Growing fast. We measured him last Friday & he was 67.5 cm tall. The last few days he has started chatting heaps and have managed to get a laugh out of him once or twice. He is grabbing everything & putting things in his mouth.

He has also decided that he doesn't need to sleep. He fights it all morning & ends up having a couple of hours sleep in the afternoon, & he's started protesting at night too. Took us 2 hrs to get him down last night, but still only waking once or occasionally twice.

Here are some photos of Carlos' puppies. Sorry for the shocking photo's. They had flatish faces - not as flat as a boxer. We're hoping to go out & have another look soon so hopefully we get better photos then.

Three Months

Lucas is three months old today. We went to plunket a couple of days ago and Lucas weighed 7.7kg and was 65cm tall. He started rolling from his stomach to his back the day he turned 12 weeks old. He has rolled 6 times so far.

12 Weeks

Lucas is 12 wks tomorrow. He is starting to grab things and put them in his mouth. He is a very chatty and happy boy. He power naps during the day for 20-30mins at a time. Sometimes he will have a decent 1hr sleep though very rarely.

10 Weeks

Lucas is now 10 weeks old. He has been going to bed at 8pm lately which has been nice and waking once a night for about 10mins to feed although last night he was up 3 times which was a killer.

We will put in his cot for a sleep during the day and when we check on him he is having great fun playing and talking to himself.

When we went to the plunket nurse at 8wks Lucas weighed 6.4 kgs and was 61cm tall.

Week of firsts

Well this has been a week of firsts for Lucas. He went to his first childrens party on Saturday - which he slept through. He went to his first league game at the stadium - pity we lost! And he slept through the night last night. We put him down at 8.30pm he woke at 9.45pm had a quick feed and was down again by 10pm and woke up at 6.45am this morning. For the last week he has been going down at about 8.30-9.30pm and waking once a night at about 4am and then 7ish.
Lucas is growing so fast. He is in 3-6mth clothing and he isn't even 2mths old yet. All his hormone spots have gone but now he has really bad cradle cap. His cabbage ear is looking much better but we still have to put the metal splint on it to train it to sit properly. He will probably have to keep the splint on until he is 3mths old. Meanwhile we have to go out to the Hutt Hospital every fortnight to get it checked. Lucas finds his thumb every so often and makes such a racket sucking it.

Above is Lucas with his cousins. There are Courtney's twins Porter and Lennox in the middle, they are 10 days younger then Lucas and Riley Dionne's baby on the right. Riley is 9 weeks older then Lucas. It is impossible to get a photo of the four of them together happy and awake.
